Proverbs and Theology of the Body

December 30th, 2008 · 4 Comments

As long as I am reading into things….  :)
Proverbs 16:30
He who winks his eye is plotting
trickery;
he who compresses his lips has
mischief ready.
This shows how we are able to lie with our bodies. It brought to mind for me teachings from the Theology of the Body almost immediately, especially when you are speaking of conjugal union [...]

The End Times in the Song of Songs

December 30th, 2008 · No Comments

I may be completely out to lunch here, but this struck me while reading my Bible:
Song 2: 12
The flowers appear on the earth,
the time of pruning the vines has come,
and the song of the dove is heard in
our land.
The pruning of the vines just sounded so very end-times to me, where the unworthy would be [...]

Clint Opening Hanukkah Presents

December 29th, 2008 · 1 Comment

Here’s the beginning of the present-opening extravaganza — trying to make up for my previous years’ lack of trying. I’m sorry, I am laughing so hard I’m crying (but trying not to) for the duration of the video.
And here is the conclusion, with Clint unwrapping his presents.  I am such a unique gift-giver, aren’t I?  [...]

Prayer for Patience in Accepting God’s Will

December 27th, 2008 · 1 Comment

Lord, teach me to be patient — with life, with people and with myself. I sometimes try to hurry things along too much, and I push for answers before the time is right. Teach me to trust Your sense of timing rather than my own and to surrender my will to Your greater and wiser [...]

Subtle, eh?  :)

Here are some of the goodies of the day:

Prayers for these Moms, Please!

December 8th, 2008 · 2 Comments

It is with great sorrow that I ask for prayers for these two women and their families today.
K gave birth to a little girl at 29 weeks gestation, who later developed a blood clot on her brain and has since gone home to the Lord.  This is K’s 3rd loss of a child.  Any loss [...]

Latest News on Andy

December 5th, 2008 · No Comments

The news is rather sad. After the biopsy the vet determined that there is nothing that can be done for Andy. They estimate he has about 2 weeks left. Fr. J.J. is as you would guess pretty devastated. He is fine but it is very hard. I wish I knew something to tell you to [...]

Update on Andy

December 4th, 2008 · 2 Comments

An updated message went out on Andy:
We heard from Fr. J.J. this afternoon and Andy came through the surgery well. His spleen was 15 inches long and filled with ping pong ball size tumors. There is a tumor on the prostate and another on the liver which they could not do anything about. [...]

Please Pray for Andy

December 1st, 2008 · 2 Comments

Please pray for Fr. JJ’s black lab, Andy.  He has gotten bad news from the vet and may be undergoing surgery tomorrow morning.  Please also pray for Fr. JJ.  He will need lots of love, support and comfort in this time of worry and uncertainty.
This is the message we received tonight:
This seems rather cold, but [...]

Think of Yourself As a Healer, Not As a Victim

December 1st, 2008 · No Comments

[--from my "Uplifting Thoughts for Every Day" book]
Scripture: 2 Cor 1:3-4 — The God of all consolation…consoles us in all our afflictions and thereby enables us to console others in their tribulations.
Reflection: Self-pity is the cancer of the soul. You are called to be a healer, not a complainer. Be like Jesus. Think of others. [...]
